Background

International communication is rapidly expanding. Since the Tower of Babylon, the need for learning to communicate in other languages and the demand for translation between languages is likewise growing. This need is expected to increase rapidly due to globalisation.

Turkey is at many crossroads; historical, cultural, geographical, and linguistic. The process of Turkey’s accession into the European Union accentuates the need for clear communication across cultural and linguistic borders. The foresight of Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, in adopting a Latin based alphabet has greatly enhanced this. At the same time Turkey is continuing to develop its relation with the nations along the ancient Silk Road.

In this process there is a great potential for business expansion and building of cultural bridges, but this requires clear, correct and culturally relevant communication. This is the context in which Orhon International Language Consulting was founded. We can contribute expertise and experience, assisting European individuals, businesses, and government institutions seeking to communicate with counterparts in Turkey and Central Asia, and vice versa.

A note on our name... The oldest written records of the Turkish language were discovered in the Orhon river valley in today's Mongolia. The Orhon Script was first found by Swedish army officer Johan von Strahlenberg. Incidentally, the Swedish founders of Orhon International Language Consulting, Magnus & Maria Alphonce, lived and worked for 10 years in the Orhon province of Mongolia, before moving to Turkey.

For who?

We are serving individuals, businesses, and government entities that have a need to communicate clearly, correctly and in a culturally relevant manner with their European, Turkish or Central Asian counterparts.
At the moment our main competence is in English, Turkish, Mongolian and Swedish.
Examples of existing customers are The Swedish Migration Board, Semantix Translation Bureau, Readers’ Digest, and a number of expatriate individuals living in Turkey.

Who are we? Orhon International Language Consulting is run locally by Kamil Kıroğlu. He is our Manager and main Language Consultant, as well as Translator between English and Turkish. He’s a gifted young man with many years of experience in translation and helping foreign nationals in Turkey to learn Turkish. He has also worked many years in foreign companies in Turkey.

The founders and owners of Orhon International Language Consulting are Magnus & Maria Alphonce from Sweden. Magnus has lived almost half his life abroad, beginning in Kenya, Africa, where he grew up and acquired the English language. Together they lived in Mongolia for 10 years, becoming fluent in the Mongolian language, both working as English teachers at the Orhon Province Branch of the Mongolian State University. Magnus has since worked with written and oral translation between English, Swedish, and Mongolian.
Currently they are located in Adana, Turkey, where Maria, who recently acquired a degree in Social Anthropology, is working as an English teacher at the Çağ University. Together with their two sons, who attend Turkish primary school, they are becoming fluent in Turkish.

We also work with selected linguists, anthropologists, and translators, located in Turkey, Sweden, and Mongolia.
